The best sides of the Alsace

[25.09.2013]
I’m sorry I didn’t make it to translate this post earlier. Chaos where ever I look.. It’s the third real school day today and still all teachers freak out. Homework in nearly every subject and the first tests will also be soon. This Friday we’ll write a national wide German test that’s supposed to be written in 4 parts of Germany.. Really national..
But now it’s enough and we should start speaking about the good sides of life. That our school trip last week would be that fantastic wasn’t in my mind before because I was a bit skeptic concerning the teachers.
[The German version includes here a kind of rebuke for all people who know me personally and tell everybody about this blog and I said I wouldn’t be able to post some things if everybody knows who I am.]
Well but now we’ll finally go on. I was skeptic because I already had some shameful moments with one of the teachers that weren’t usual in school life but more in private life.. and I‘ve never really known whether I should like him or getting furious because of him. After this week I found out I really like him, although he’s a very bad teacher, he’s great as a person.
I already told you about day number two and so I’ll go on with the other trips we did. As a compulsive destination in the Alsace we went to the parliament of course. What should I say about it? It’s a very huge building, in my eyes a bit cold and once a month people ‘make‘ politics there. That’s it and it even doesn’t become more interesting at your second visit..
Strasbourg as a town has fascinated me for a long time now. Everywhere the small alleys and houses in bonbon colours. The kind of magic over this city even reminds me a bit of Nuremberg.
It’s a bit depressing I have to look which towns we visited last week but after so many stations your brain is full anytime.
The visit of the Musée du chocolat was of course one of the highlights. I still feel sick when thinking of this mass of chocolate but it was sooo yummy :) You really should visit it if you love chocolate the way I do. You’ll see a lot of things about its history, the production and you also get free tasters.
And now the lowlights [does this word exist?] follows my highlight. The technical museum of Sinsheim gained the title lowlight for me. When I hear this name I think of whatever but not of three plains, two trains, hundreds of cars and a few clothes. If someone likes cars it’s probably perfect for him and walking around one time would have been ok but this was too much. And also you can’t take great photos of the ‘pretty’ cars because every cm is used -much more than in my suitcase. Besides the acoustic is a catastrophe. Everywhere there are some screens with movies or engines that make noises. And you can make sure your headache isn’t there because of the beer the evening before. But as I’ve already said: Car friends will love it.
A middlelight was the visit of Colmar. If you saw so many Alsatian cities in such a short time you don’t see a difference. Like in Strasbourg I loved the architecture but this visit wasn’t indispensable to life for me.
Strasbourg, Sélestat, Colmar, Kaysersberg and how they are called. It’s enough to visit two of them but the Alsace is worth visiting definitely. Here a few impressions of my vacation but please don’t ask where I took them..

From frame houses to monkeys

[17.09.2013]
Hello my dears,
as you can see the WLAN works today in the hotel but I think I haven't told you were I am?! Well, at the moment we are in Kehl, before we were at the  Mont-Sainte Odile, in Sélestat and at the monkey mountain.
At the Mont-Sainte Odile you have a brilliant view over half of the Alsace, if you're nearby you should absolutely visit the nice little chapels and the abbey. Also the guidance was pretty interesting, it's not usual for guides being that interesting but although it was my second time there, there were a lot of new things to see.
I can't say much about Sélestat, beside the frame houses there are not so many things to discover but a few pretty stores for shopping. I found a wonderful red dress but unfortunately it was too large and they didn't have it in my size. Maybe I have luck and there'll be the same store in Strasbourg with the dress in my size!
And surprise, surprise the monkey mountain was perfect. I really love monkeys and I still have to smile when I think about the cute little hands taking carefully some popcorn out of your hands. And the baby monkeys :) Cute!
Now we pass the evening quietly and tomorrow it'll go on :)

[Hello my dears, I send you kind greatings from the beautiful Alsace! Today we were in Strasbourg, wonderful city but unfortunately bad weather! See you soon, Marie <3]

pcfritz Tour

[16.08.2013]
Actually I wanted to post about Regensburg today but I was in Nuremberg just today and so I’ll have to tell you about this :)
All pretzelhouses of Kolb were closed because of vacation today but another one was open anjd the pretzel was pretty good as well. The trip today was basically planned because of the pcfritz bus tour that had a stopover in Nuremberg today. ‘Fette Beats und heiße Bräute’ [killer beats and hot chicks] should be presented. Well, the music was really super but I don’t know what to say about the chicks but anyhow the break-dancers were yummy :P
At the place in front of the Lorenz church were always something happening and so we didn’t go shopping so much. All people were greatly friendly and the performances of Toni Tuklan and Vito Lavita were fantastic as usual.

After the first performance I had some time to to talk a bit to Toni and take a photo with him. He’s such a charming man, my mom was also fascinated! He also took a photo for you, summer has already passed half but that doesn’t matter [Buntes Bonbon is looking forward to the summer :) ]

Meantime there were some short breaks but usually the DJs were busy putting on some music if no liveact was there.

And even if I don’t like the ‚Dschungelcamp‘ [I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me out of Here!] and I don’t know why total Joey Heindle became famous I wanted a photo with him and him and him… My collection grew up very well today but I still don’t have a picture with Vito.
Well, now I’m tired and go to bed. Thanks to all who were so kind to me today and to pcfritz for the great day! It’s never boring in Nuremberg, I guess it will be very hard for Regensburg ;)

Nuremberg meets Regensburg [2]

[17.08.2013]
Hello my dears,
after two posts about my secret winner you can finally read my post about Regensburg today. And tomorrow it’s the Colour of the month’s turn and my whole plan delays but that’s just the nice thing of a blog: posting things then, when you want.
If I think about Regensburg at first the cathedral and the stone bridge come to my mind.

Then the wonderful day with my best friend there last year. Who wants to go shopping should prefer Regensburg instead of Nuremberg because the shopping trip can begin in Regensburg right after the arrival at the train station in the ‘Arcaden’. There you can buy everything, no matter if you’re looking for shoes, books or nail polish, you’ll always find something. For somebody who wishes a bigger choice, the city offers a giant supply. Two weeks ago, I found a very great book store that helped me a lot for my term paper. But now enough shopped.

Even people who aren’t religious should have visited the cathedral, I wonder every time about the beautiful mosaic windows and the Jesus at the right hand side whose beard grows apparently, I get gooseflesh at every visit.

Besides that, Regensburg has a
marvellous park next to the train station, there you can spend hours, only looking at the fountains. The capital of the Oberpfalz offers both: typical city things like shopping centres but also some quiet places that invite you chilling.

That’s a fact I miss a bit in Nuremberg, but there’s always something happening. In Regensburg it’s also pretty easy to get lost because everything is so winding but the cathedral is a very good  possibility to orientate in that case ;)
As I’ve already said: Both cities are it worth visiting and even if you’ve already were up to mischief there, I’m sure there are a lot of corners you haven’t seen, which want to be explored.
In my opinion Nuremberg won narrowly, but that’s just because my interest for Albrecht Dürer, convince yourselves on your own!

Nuremberg meets Regensburg [1]

[15.08.2013]
Hello guys,
in some parts of Germany school has already started again but here in Germany the best time of the year has just begun. This year I’m not on vacation, but as I’ve already told you, I was at my aunt’s house last week. Otherwise only day trips are planned form y holidays like to Nuremberg or Regensburg. Both are wonderful cities in Bavaria that are worth to visit.
The trip to Nuremberg was already before the holidays began but I’d like to show you the nicest sides of the ‚Dürer - city‘ nevertheless.

Normally we go to Nuremberg by train. The train station isn’t the nicest one but it achieves its object. Much better than the train station are the small houses you can find in the whole pedestrian zone. Hardy nobody can pass the pretzel houses, which sell - honestly - the best pretzels in the world, without buying one. If pure, with butter or cheese [but no Emmentaler because it dries out so fast, an assistant told me], the pastry always tastes fantastic and sometimes I’d like to go there just for the pretzels. Last time I was in Nuremberg was on a Sunday and so all were closed, but cross your fingers and I’ll be there tomorrow again :) Beside the yummy food, Nuremberg has great shopping centers and a lot of history and culture. No, I don’t mean the ‚Lochgefängnisse‘ [very old prison], they are pretty ok at the first visit but after the third only boring. I speak about the nice castle, the small alleys, the old quaint stores and the Dürer-house.

Probably it’s the first time I used the word ‘quaint’ but it suits perfectly for these stores. Also the Pegnitz [river through Nuremberg] is a great tourist attraction you can even experience on a gondola.

But the most important thing for me are the people who are always friendly, best example are the sellers in the Albrecht Dürer fan shop [is it apparent that I like Dürer?]. And it was in this shop I found a real treasure the last time. A book, printed in 1938. I hardy can’t read the writing but the first sentence: ‘From a beautiful bud […] a glorious flower developed […].’ made my buy it. And this one is for you, because you know: no vacation without a postcard :)
[Text: Hello my loved ones, the postcard from Nuremberg arrives at you with a little delay. And what would a visit of Bavaria’s nicest city be without buying sth. from the Albrecht Dürer fan shop? I bought two great books there and this card as well. I just like the modern interpretation of his wonderful artworks :) Enjoy the summer! Yours, Marie]

I can’t tell you more about Nuremberg because I’m already caught in dreams. Somehow I like all of this city, also the bedraggled ‚Löwensaal‘ [kind of concert hall] where our dear ‚Samu the Finn‘ smiled at me the first time. I’m united with this city because of so many different things and I’d also like to study there next year. Even if Regensburg has no chances to win the duel I wanna tell you something about the Oberpfalz‘ capital as well. But for today it’s enough and the second part arrives tomorrow or the day after ;)

Little Italy

[01.06.2013]
If you followed my Facebook posts and the texts here assiduously, ja know, that something vey exciting happened last Friday and also that the day had an Italian flair. I spent the day with my best friend Keks in Bamberg and you don't call it the Northern Rome without cause.  The small alleys, the old bridges over the Regnitz and not at least the old fishermans' quarter 'Little Venice' account for the Italian flair. But the destination wasn't only chosen because of the pretty atmosphere..

Last week's Wednesday evening I was a bit bored. Well, boredom, jevenility and a photo of a handsome young man are a dangerous combination.. you do things then, you wouldn't do anytime else ;) And ao I followed Vito Lavita's appeal and alpied for a role in his first music video. I hadn't the aim to be really taken, but the curiosity finally won. That I would dance in a video two days later, was not my intention. Of course I had to speak with my best friend at once and tell her about the news. While we were phoning, we had to research about the song 'Danzare' naturally. When I read that Bild.de calls the song the summer hit, I recognized what I've done. And you can believe me one things: during the next few hours I underwent all different feelings. The permanent change bewtween 'Omg, what have I done? That will be so shameful!' 'I'm so happy about it' and 'My parent will freak out!' wasn't very funny. The only thought that calmed me down, was that I had at least a funny story for you.

I slept surprisingly well in the night before the shooting, although I was very very nervous as well. Crammed like a donkey, which goes to a holiday for three weeks, Keks and I went to the train in direction to Bamberg. Arrived there, I became paler every minute but my fortune cookie calmed me down all the time. To join in the Italian feeling, we decided to go to an Italian restaurant before the shooting and were babbled promtly in Italian. That the waiter had blond hair and a beer belly (really Latin) isn't of relevance. Sometime we went to the set with a lot of anticipation and red lipstick. At first view everything was a bit chaotic and that also proved true at the second view. Anyway all people were super friendly and it teemed with a lot of different characters. Large and small, young and old, Italian and German, somehow everything was there. Not just the different people impressed me, but also the lovely decoration. Everywhere you found small flags in the Italian colours, bulbs were strained between the houses and also they themselves spread this magic feeling. Shortly after our arrival the shooting began but just a few minutes before that we learned a short choreography. And no less than Markus Schöffl, ex- Let's dance juror and choreographer of a lot of stars, taught us the dance. A few minutes later the kingpin of the day, Vito Lavita, arrived at the set on a Vespa. The shooting was very different than I've thought. I counted with one or two scenes with the background actors but there were a few more. Even if we had to act every scene five or six times and we heard the song about 250 times, I had a lot of fun all the time. I was mesmerized by the song and the whole atmosphere, so the raindrops and the frosty temperature didn't bother, in spite of the minidress. During the shooting breaks I had the one or other talk and so you found out a lot of interesting things about your combatants. Unfortunately we couldn't stay till the end because our train wouldn' have waited for us probably. With this thouht in my mind, I applied myself for the last scene and gave all.

It doesn't matter how terrible I'll look in the video, I had soooo much fun. And I also have to say that I'm a bit bewitched by Vito's charm. You know that I normally prefer northern guys and I don't have a lot of things in common with Italians but in this case it is a bit different. A very handsome young man who provides with his charisma for good mood and summer feeling. But the song Danzare has much more: beside Vito's singing there's a rap part of Toni Tuklan, a Nigerian who makes successful music with his brother, too. Because of this contrast the song sounds even more agil and dissociates itself from others. All the things makes Danzare also in my opinion to a hit, and if there'll be a summer also to a summer hit. I don't wanna tell you more about the video, just wait and see :) But visit Vito Lavita's homepage:
http://www.vito-lavita.com/de/
Here you can find a lot of infos and also a few videos of the shooting.
Attention when you're listening to the song. Acute earworm risk!

Jamie's restaurants - Part 2

[25.05.2013]
Hello my sweeties,
I'm still owe to you to do the post about one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants and now that fits better than ever.
Well, two or three days after we had this fantastic dinner at the Fifteen, we wanted more and went our way to another restaurant. It is called 'Jamie's Italian' and serves - like the name already reveals - Italian delicacies. There's already a real chain of restaurants, I think there are at least three in London. The restaurants are all well-constructed: outside you can find some pots with several herbs and inside the first thing you see is a small corner with souvenirs.  If you continue your way you pass some worktops where pasta and bread are made.
It smells fantastic everywhere.  And they don’t need any decoration because everything is full of herbs and ham. Some salt and pepper mills are put on the tables. I’m already fascinated before reading the menu ;) This contains no bric-a-brac, only typical dishes that are always welcome. Even penne with tomato sauce is a gourmet dish in this restaurant. Everything tastes perfect and the waiters are also very friendly. If you’re around an Italian you should have a meal there. The prices are ok, as well. I think under the average for London’s situation..

The real highlight was waiting outside: an ice cream van. In the past a VW bus that was rebuilt to a retro ice cream cart touring through London. The different types of ice cream are extraordinary but also extraordinary yummy. Hmmm.
Who isn’t fed up with Italian stuff should visit my blog again next week and watch the ZDF Fernsehgarten tomorrow (26th May) at 11 am! Trust me.
Well and good luck to the BVB! Although they don't need any luck because they're also outclass without that :)

Jamie‘s restaurants - Fifteen

[10.04.2013]
Hello guys,
I should stop promising you so many things.. Posting today will be very stressful ;)
This time I’ll tell you something about my role model, although I lost my dream becoming a cook. I’m a Jamie Oliver fan since the first moments of my childhood. I was fascinated by his skills, he showed despite his hectically moves. And somehow he’s crazy, I think I already liked it these times. As a proud owner of all books and several cooking utensils, my biggest dream was fulfilled three years ago: I got a London trip as a present to my confirmation and the best thing about it, also a reservation for Jamie’s restaurant ‘Fifteen’. The idea after it is giving deprived youth and young adults education and after that, they should work in the Fifteen. The same principle like Christian Rach conducted a few years later in Germany as his great idea.
I don’t have to mention that I’ve counted the days until the date. It was an unbelievable feeling to be on the eve of this fantastic building. The atmosphere was a bit back-breaking and it was very loud but that hasn’t matter because of the hint of Jamie Oliver that was in the air. The meal was great. Probably the best things, I’ve ever eaten. Still today I sometimes taste the airy panna cotta and the sweet and sour sauce of raspberries. On the way to the toilets you could also catch a glimpes of the restaurant’s heart: the kitchen. I’ll never forget this evening!
Well, that’s the first part, I won’t make the second today, it’ll follow soon ;)
