Word of the month 01/14

Hello my dears,
I wish all of you a great year 2014, a lot of success and health! Without much bla bla I wanna go on. At the moment it's still New Year's Eve and I'm sitting here after raclette and two glasses of punch and there's already

till the day before yesterday. Actually I find it useless to shoot vast amount of money in the sky but somehow the glitter in the sky is pretty.
As you can see it's the 1st now and it's again pretty late. I had to think about fireworks yesterday and today the whole time. At New Year's Eve the whole world stands still for a moment, when all the rackets fly to sky, I think. Whoever doesn't burn anything watches the spectacle with big eyes in front of the window or even outside. Although I don't like this day very much, I forget everything during these moments. I wonder about the great colors and the glitter and I'm happy that the world is loud even at night. There might be a time I'd prefer the silence but at the moment I love this. You see the most important things of the old year in the rackets' light and the new year stalks quietly with all its surprises.
How did you start into 2014? It was very important for me to listen the right music for my 2014 and so 'Afraid of the midnight' of Sunrise Avenue was showing and suitable I wore my Sunrise Ave shirt. Haha, it was damn cold! But now let's look at some pictures.

Word of the month 12/13

Hello my dears,
Luckily everybody knows recycling nowadays and more and more people regard such products when they are shopping. But how about upcycling? Do you know this word? I explain you the difference to recycling with an easy example:
You buy a bottle of water. The glass bottle has to get produced, therefore you need energy and resources. When the bottle is empty, you got two possibilities. You can put it into a bottle bank, your bottle gets a new life after remelt it down. That's a good idea but you again need energy for it. Instead of trashing it, you could decorate it and use it as a vase for example. In both cases your bottle lives a new life but with the second possibility you wouldn't need energy for it, so it's recycling that's even more environment-sparing. That's upcycling. You create something new out of trash. I already deal with this topic for a longer time now because the perfect combination of environment and DIYs is

Maybe you can remember an old word of the months. I talked about my collection of sunglasses and was looking for a possibility to store them. About one month ago I had an idea and I was busy with this upcycling stuff. The basic shelf is always the same, I'll show you my version step by step. During the following four weeks I'll present you also other upcycled things. This time I used mandarins' boxes, old bonbon papers, old wooden boards and a tiny bit of color from the cellar.

Sunglassesshelf

For four sunglasses you need:
* one empty mandarins' box
* color
* glue
* 'glitter paper' [old bonbon and chewing gum papers]
* three thin wooden boards, ca. 7 x 18cm [you can take the wood from other mandarins boxes]
* 12 small spikes
* thin carton and cellotape

Let's start:
At first clean the mandarins' box, that means remove glue and paper from the sides and wipe it out. Probably there are some small holes in the bottom, so cut circles out of the carton and fill it with the tape into them. Now just choose a pretty color for painting the box' outer face and the wooden boards. If you want, you can of course paint it everywhere. When the color is dry, paste the inside of the box with the glitter paper in a suitable color, I collect these papers for years now because I think it's a pity trashing it. My paper hasn't clung at once so I put glue on several parts after the first drying again. When again everything is dry , mark six points for the spikes, there are always two points at the same height and have a distance from about 7cm, to the next two nails but you can see it better on the picture.

I made three boxes and found the perfect place to look at my favourites all the time. I hope you like this upcycled DIY and you maybe try it on your own. I'd like to see pictures of yours then! If you need any filling, here are the links to my 'bestsellers:

Word of the month 11/13

[03.11.2013]
Hello my dears,
Well, I know that I’m already too late but I finally made my term paper. I’m sooo happy! But that’s not about my word of the month ;) [I’ll tell you the story anytime else.]
I thought it would become more and more difficult to find a suitable word but I even had a few this month. I chose:

A few weeks ago we wrote that stupid German test [by the way I got an A] and we should give away our mobile phones. We were about 60 people and 60 cell phones. Well there were 58 smartphones and two real ‚retro-‘ cell phones. One of them was mine. I always had kind of problems with phones. Either I turned it off or it passed away when I needed it. I was pretty content with my old Samsung and it wasn’t a problem for me that I got texts two or three days later.
As you know I wanna ‚develop‘ the Bunte Bonbon and that’s why I sent a lot of messages at different people because of different stuff the last weeks. When I was lucky my phone even rang a few times but bad if your phone turns off on its own..
For weeks ago I have decided to buy a new mobile, preferred of Nokia [you know why]. And of course I asked whether I should buy a normal mobile or a smartphone. There’s nearly no difference at the prices nowadays and you have some advantages with a smartphone. After hours of researches on the Internet I decided to buy a Nokia Lumia 520. A Windows Phone for 130,00€. In my opinion that’s really ok and I wonder what’s different/better at these -sooo cool-  fruit products. I don’t understand why people spend the quintuple price for nearly the same thing.
Now I’m one of these smartphone owners but I’m already old-fashioned because I haven’t bought a fruit thing. Nokia is much better, hihi :)
After three weeks I’m very happy with the mobile phone. It lies good in the hand and it already has a gum case so it doesn’t slip away that easy. I bought a foil for the display what was a great thing because it fell down the first day. I don’t know why, nobody touched it.. that’ll be a secret forever probably.

The using is very easy, also for a blunderer like me, I could do most of the settings on my own. The only thing I don’t know is how to change the ringing into a song. The camera is pretty good and the battery lasts long. Yesterday I booked an Internet flat for 4,95€ a month and I also wonder why some people pay 30€ or more for that thing.
If somebody has any questions according the Lumia 520 just ask below. I wish you a good start into the month and cross your fingers so that I’ll discover my new phone soon. But probably that’ll take longer than a month..
Have a good night,

_Marie_

Word of the month 10/13

[01.10.2013]
Hello you cuties,
today it’s again the first of the month and so it’s my turn to choose a new word. I really liked the idea to revisit the word ‚Melancholy‘ of last month yesterday and so my new search gets mor and more demanding ;)
Besides my special about Paris‘ fashion and the normal posts, I’d like to write something about poems this month. I‘ve already mentioned this topic last month but now I really wanna tell you something about this kind of art. And that’s why -who wonders-

became word of the month. If I’m unlucky the first people already stopped reading because they think poems are boring and stupid but maybe some of you will continue the reading.
I have to be honest, sometimes I‘ve gotten hackles up already when I heard the word ‚poem‘, if it’s about the metre and whatever. If it’s iambus, trochee or dactyl, isn’t it samey if the poets words touch your heart? Nevertheless all the hated poem analysis I love the lyrics. It’s fascinating how some people can deal with words, sometimes ten words say more than hundreds of brushstrokes on a painting or hundreds of notes jumping on the scale.
My preference started when I read ‚It is what it is‘ of Erich Fried a few years ago. I don’t know what it was like, the feeling, hearing it the first time. This honesty and clarity impressed me a lot. The last strophe is my favourite one:

‚Pride says
It’s ridiculous
Caution says
It’s reckless
Experience says
It’s not practical
Love says
It is what it is’

You don’t have to embellish everything, sometimes the clear structures are just better.
Shortly after this experience I had a setback according to my love of lyrics: Rainer Maria Rilke’s ‘The Panther’. After looking at it later I have to say it’s a great poem but if I have to learn something by heart my brain switches on stubborn. And I found it strange to write about a caught panther, I haven’t recognized there could be anything behind it.. Another lowlight was Christian Morgenstern’s ‚The Banshee‘. I just don’t like it. For me it’s no poem, it’s just a text like each other as well. But well.
My interest for the written art began growing again after reading the book ‚Looking for Alaska‘ of John Green. It’s epics and not lyrics but the main character Alaska treated this topic very often and so I got curious again.. gelesen [I've already written about this book but just in German: http://buntes-bonbon.blogspot.de/2012/07/john-green-eine-wie-alaska.html ].
And how I told you a few times, I finally reached Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger but that’s enough for today otherwise I don’t have to post the other things ;)
Have a good start into this month!

Word of the month 09/13

[01.09.2013]
How fast time passes. Exactly one year ago I thought about the first word of the month ‚symphony‘ and now I’ll already start with another one.
I’d like to take this word already during the last winter month but now it suits perfectly. You can almost set the clock. Every year it comes back. Always in September.
The

is back. I just read a few definitions about melancholy and I’m surely not depressive but I lost the kind of insouciance I had during the whole summer. Today I left my grandma’s house and I miss all people there and the cute valley already. I hate to leave it and I know that’ll snow and that they’ll play ‚Last Christmas‘ on the radio, the next time I’ll be there.  And even I feel well at my home I’d prefer to be there and when I think about it I become melancholy. Well, I think everybody is a bit melancholy. Everybody likes walking down memory lane and gets maybe blue when he thinks about the one or the other decision.
PS.: The best medicine against acute melancholy is a big bowl of ice cream and a good DVD.

Word of the month 08/13

[09.08.2013]
Again the word of the month is a week too late. I'm so sorry :/
At the 1st I passed my driving test and till Saturday I was on vacation, so I couldn't post anything at Friday as well. But now let's start:
[It's 22:31. Yesterday it was the first time for three weeks I was in bed before midnight. I was looking forward to a long night because my eye circles couldn't be bigger and darker. Unfortunately I was awake because of a call in the middle of the night and I asked myself why I didn't stay awake.
Do you know the feeling when you just want to sleep but your head is full of thoughts, you have to think about, full of texts, you have to write and full of ideas you have to implement? That's annoying!
My room resembles an appartment of a compulsive hoarder in the last weeks. Dozens of different cloths, sewing cottons, silk ribbons, textile colours, buttons and drafts are all over the place. All the time I think: 'Just five minutes and the bag is finally ready.' I get a new idea into my mind that catches all my thoughts so that I don't forget a detail.] Effective last week.
Meanwhile my room is clean again and almost all bags are ready. All the sewing did gibe me the idea for the recent Wotm:

There are so many different ways how you can be creativeand I'd like to show you different ways how I'm creative (in my opinion) this month. Today I start with the bags.
Origianally a participation at the contest ‚Nähtalent 2013‘ (sewing talent 2013) of Pfaff was my aim but unfortunately all websites with important information were closed one week before the end of the contest. I don't know if this is my fault or their but after the disappointment at the beginning I see a chance in this. I'll present you the bag some day and I already tell you one thing: It's very specific and I'm sure not everybody will like it.
Now I show you a bag I made for my little sparrow, my godson from Peru. It's my sweety's birthday soon and so I collected all presents for him in this bag.
Because he likes cars I printed one on a specific foil that I ironed on the selfmade bag, I wrote his name with a casual textile colour.

That's it for today, I'll show you the other bags soon.
Have a great evening.

Word of the month 07/13

[16.07.2013]
Hey you,
well, I have to say one thing: you're very patient! Time passes so fast. On time overslept and it's the 1st and I'm spoilt for choice about the word of the month. Because I have no good idea you have to wait and it's the 2nd der 3rd or even the 9th and then still my English followers have to wait. Luckily I have six free lessons and so there's some time to translate. Finally it's hot here, so I decided to present you one of my collecting passions.

It's really hard, I can't leave a shop without buying one. During the last two years my collection increased considerably and so I can choose which sunglasses I want to wear for each outfit. Underneath you can see some of my favorites but at first I wanna tell you what sunglasses mean to me. It's marvelous to walk around with such a thing on your nose. The world doesn't just shine in other colours, the sunbeams spot on you and so you shimmer even more. Look at these pictures:

The first is photographed as always and the second through my leopard glasses. Every time I wore these glasses for more than 10 minutes, I don't wanna take them off because the colours are so great. The yellow/brown glasses make the environment seem to be softer, warmer and much more harmonic. The following photos only show a few of my glasses, so I ask you: Have you any idea where to put them? A shelf or any DIY? If you don't know, I have to continue thinking about it and present you my idea here ;)

Here you can see my leo glasses I've already mentioned before. Love these colours <3

Now there are my typical Samu Haber glasses with only one glass. And yes, I bought them just like that!

For the video shoot of Danzare I bought this model in the 50s look, even if I haven't worn it.

The white one was a mispurchase, it doesn't suit me but I really like the form.

My favourite model in classic black <3

The only pilot specs in my collection but it's already damaged..

And here my two models in red.

Word of the month 06/13

[01.06.2013]
Exceptionally you can read the word of the month already a day earlier than usual and that’s just because I’ve planned another post for tomorrow. Now I’ve already some secrets for one week now and today it will be again a bit like that ;)
But now back to the word of the month. This time it is not a real noun lie the other times, it is a verb which I’ve dealt with the other week.
It is about

Yes, dancing. I can’t believe it myself because dancing was my biggest enemy the last years..  I hated to be on the dance floor and to be judged by the others. I hated it to do some moves to music because I preferred listening to it without any hooks and moves. I swore that I’ll never dance again, never. And then we had last week and my juvenility was stronger than my iron will. Now I’m gripped by dance fever. Even if I can’t dance, I wanna learn it and can’t sit still if there’s a great song on the radio. What’s up with me?!
And now I wish all dance-mads and all non-dancers a rhythmical summer. Maybe it starts at June..
PS.: I hope you’ll have the exact elucidation to all the secretiveness by tomorrow ;)

Word of the month 05/13

[20.05.2013]
I have to say sorry that I was so lazy about posting the last few weeks and I also have to say that I’m tired of apologizing me all the time! This doesn’t mean I don’t want to post anymore that means I’m annoyed of having so less time for things which are important for me.
A blog is like a diary, you can write about everything that touches you and so you also survive the harder times much easier. Well, I think I was enough melancholic and it’s time to write about the word of the month.

is the topic this month.
Why? Because I’m angry so often because so many people just ignore it. What are we without our beautiful nature? Right, we wouldn’t be here. I engage myself in this topic for a longer time now. I think there’s no single thing that is better than doing a long walk through the forest. Well it might be better to lie outside under the starry sky. It’s warm, you hear the sound of a grasshopper, you smell the grass and you start dreaming. To make everything more perfect you lie on a ground next to a lightening road and rubbish is all over the place. Isn’t this gorgeous? Shouldn’t we keep only small places free of this and care about the animals and plants who live there?
PS.: You might wonder why the English post is much shorter than the English one. I posted a few things that are only known in Germany or already out of date ;)

Word of the month 04/13

[01.04.2013]
Probably you aren't used to read the post of the word of the month on time at the first but this time it's very important. And now please a rataplan for the word of April. Upps, already told you. The word is

Why? Because the birthday week will start tomorrow and I hear a rataplan everytime I think of my blog. Tomorrow my baby will already be a year old. I'm totally excited of everything that'll happen the next time and I'm so thankful for everything that already happened. I read in a magazine a day 'A blog is like a pet, it needs a lot of attention but it's also an erichment.' And that's really true. If my blog was a pet, I think it would already be famished, but I try to improve myself. Promise!
But anyway from tomorrow on there'll be a birthday week, that means you get every day something new to read. Recipes, a DIY (in memory to my most read post), a football report, a lottery and so on, I hope there's something for everyone. But you'll see.
Now I think it's the time to recall a bit. For 365 days I've already put a lot of effort into my blog. I've chosen eight words of the month and told you with 200 posts about every important or unimportant thing of my life.  Since the end of January I also do my posts in Englisch. The translations aren't stilistically valuable but I try to work on this as well. And I attempt to express my feelings and memories as clear as possible.
I thank you, that you made my first year so lovely and I'm looking forward to the next few years because of that.

And now the countdown starts, the rataplan. I hope you're looking forward to the coming week as much as I do. If you want to give something to the birthday child, tell all your friends about the birthday week, I'm sure my baby will like this.
Or follow us on facebook. A bit of support would be very helpful there ;)
